Get Connected! Treasure Coast Connector Launches Web Site

Tom Derzypolski

(Fort Pierce, Fla.) Representatives from the Treasure Coast Connector, the fixed route transportation system for St. Lucie and Martin Counties, announced today the launch of www.treasurecoastconnector.com, a website dedicated to providing the latest information on public transportation.

The Treasure Coast Connector is now just a click away. The new site provides a wide range of information for riders from fares and schedules to routes and maps. In addition, the newsletter - Connected! - is available along with information on community events.

The Council on Aging St. Lucie (COASL) operates both the Treasure Coast Connector, a fixed route system and Community Transit, the demand response system. Providing increased access to routes and service information is the primary focus for this website launch.

"This site is an important tool for us," said Marianne Arbore, Transit Director for COASL. "We have long recognized the potential for the internet to connect us with our current and future customer base."

Studies show that 90 percent of people planning an unfamiliar trip and 80 percent of those planning a familiar trip consider access to schedules essential. Riders are looking for readily available and up-to-date information. www.treasurecoastconnector.com provides the most current information available.

With the rising cost of gas, the Treasure Coast Connector is striving to provide an economical and hassle-free transportation alternative said Arbore. Providing routes, rates and service information online is a very important step in educating the community.

The Treasure Coast Connector began operation in 2002 and now connects the communities of St. Lucie and Martin Counties with three fixed routes. Service is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. For more information call 722-464-8878 in St. Lucie County or 772-286-8818 in Martin County.
